This is one of the most common causes of joint infection. It is also known as irritable hip. Transient synovitis usually affects children between the ages of three and ten, and boys are affected two to four times more often than girls. The condition causes inflammation in many joints: knees, ankles, wrists, elbows and hips. The cause is unknown. The inflammation is accompanied by fever and skin rashes. It is important to carry out a number of tests to differentiate transient synovitis from a virus or bacteria.

The HipChild hip orthosis is made from thin, coloured neoprene that ensures constant compression and warmth of the hip girdle. The brace is equipped with an aluminium splint and a range of movement adjustment every 15 degrees. The brace supports and unloads the overused joint and prevents misalignment. It also reduces excessive rotation, abduction and adduction of the joint.
